We were so excited to try this place. I guess we were marketing victims here!We were also really disappointed. The booths were old and the leather had holes. The floor was sticky and dirty and the bathrooms too.Our waiter was amazing so he got 5 stars. The food was swimming in butter. The arrachera was salty. My beet salad had old arugula and dried chicken. The ribeye was good but that was about it. The only great thing was dessert. All of this for almost $400!!!We felt like we were robed really… never coming back.
Casa Madre Brunch & Grill
About this place
Step into Casa Madre Brunch & Grill off the streets of McAllen and you get patio seating without the showroom polish. an easygoing pace does the quiet work of making strangers feel expected.
What lands on the table tends to be specific rather than generic: think tacos, brunch, and the kitchen's daily strengths prepared without theatrics. Coffee and pastry get the same care as the savory side.
If you are mapping a McAllen evening, put Casa Madre Brunch & Grill where you can stay for a second round instead of sprinting to the next pin. Weeknights usually run quieter than weekends. The listing address is 2200 S 10th St, McAllen, TX 78503.
If your notes for McAllen need one reliable kitchen, start here. Casa Madre Brunch & Grill earns the ink with tacos and a room that remembers hospitality.
Before you visit, skim recent neighbor notes on the listing and confirm hours on the door. Platefolk keeps this page as a field guide, not a frozen brochure - the best proof is still sitting down for a meal.
What we value here is consistency: a kitchen that repeats its strengths, a room that does not treat guests like tickets, and a Casa Madre Brunch & Grill visit that still feels worth the trip across town. Bring curiosity, order something the staff recommends, and leave a short note afterward so the next diner arrives wiser.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great — very friendly and attentive. We came during the week and it was dead, which probably should have been a sign. The food, unfortunately, was disappointing. My salmon was overcooked (though the vegetables were well seasoned), and the ribeyes were tough and bland — half our table didn’t even finish theirs. The guacamole with pork rinds was good, but it’s hard to mess that up. They did a nice birthday show for us, but overall, for the price, it’s not worth it. Good service, but the food just isn’t there.
OHHH M GG!!! Brandy has the best attitude when it comes to the service! Will definitely be back soon AND I hope she’ll be there as well because I’d love her as my server again. I recommend the Jarrito casa madre if you like mezcal
Every item brought to our table was well crafted. From the refreshing cucumber mimosa, the sauces each have the in house taste, the main dishes surpassed what we expect when we order this item anywhere else. Highly recommend a stop by to be served great food in a matching environment. Thank you Casa Madre.
I was surprised how good the food was. I got the mar y Tierra and my bf got the tampiequena and both were bomb! The server was great and attentive. We got the guacamole app and it was HUGE! totally worth. The prices were not bad and good for the quality we got. I was surprised how fast the food came out. It tasted homemade for sure. Recommend!!!!!
Got the ribeye plate and it was overcooked and had no flavor. The steak quesadillas were fire though, and the nonalcoholic drinks were solid. The latte and cappuccino were great too. Dessert we got the stuffed concha and it was just okay.Honestly, the food looks better than it tastes. For what we paid, we should’ve just gone to a steakhouse. Also, the AC is always an issue here —last weekend it was so hot we left, and this time it was still warm and stuffy.
Very disappointed! Ribeye, dry, hard, thin, not the best cut. I thought the steaks were the signature dish based on Tik Tok posts! Hamburger regular, I guess the prices are just for show, food is standard, much better choices around.Special eventsNo special event
